From November through to January, it is an amazing sight to see these huge creatures heaving their way up the beach to find a safe spot to dig a nest and lay their eggs. And then, some weeks later generally between January to March , you can witness the tiny hatchlings emerging from their sandy nests to scurry down the beach towards the sea. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service offer ranger guided turtle encounters throughout the Bundaberg turtle season, from November to March.
More people visit Mon Repos each year to watch nesting turtles and emerging turtle hatchlings. Turtles are easily disturbed if correct turtle watching guidelines are not followed. Parks Rangers and volunteers have the right to refuse entry or escort visitors if needed from the facility. Respect the natural environment and follow instructions and directives from the Parks Rangers and Volunteers regarding mobile phone use, torches and cameras.
Ranger guided encounters operate seven nights a week from November to March, excluding 24th, 25th and 31st December. Nesting turtles are best viewed after dark, from November to January and Turtle hatchlings are best viewed at night from January to March.

Please be aware that turtles are wild marine animals and we cannot guarantee you will see either nesting turtles or hatchlings, on occasional evenings turtles do not arrive. Cancellation Policy Please note that Bundaberg Tourism reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee if you cancel for the evening you have booked. Please note if there is no turtle activity and you are not taken to the beach on the night that you have booked or if you decide to leave prior to your group going onto the beach there will be no refund offered.
